(Ann may be a child of Will iam's from a previous marriage. Ann, born circa 1835, and S arah, born circa 1834, are probably two of the three female s under five years of age recorded in the 1840 Census.)

Joyner of the county of Edgecombe and State of Nor th Carolina of the one part and Kinchen Edwards of the coun ty and state aforesaid of the other part - witnesseth tha t the said William A. Joyner for and in consideration of th e sum of four hundred and fifty dollars paid to the same Wi lliam A. Joyner at or before the sealing and delivery of th ese presents hath given, granted bargained and sold unto th e said Kinchen Edwards, his heirs and assigns forever one c ertain tract of land lying in the county of Nash and on th e South Side of Tar River containing one hundred thirty an d 1/3 acres be the same more or less and bounds as follows. ..beginning at the mouth of Dorman's Branch thence in sai d branch by a line of marked trees 210 pole to a stake in t he field, thence nearly a north east course to Edwards corn er, thence Edwards other corner, thence along said Edward s line to a holly on the river, thence up the various cours es of the river to the first station. also one other trac t lying in the aforesaid county of Nash and containing sixt y acres be the same more or less and bounded as follows, be ginning a pine near the Cokey Road, thence down said road t o Edwards corner pine. The execution of the foregoing deed of sale from William A . Joyner to Kinchen Edwards was duly proven in open court b y the oath of E. G. Armstrong and is ordered to be register ed. Attest F. M. Taylor and is registered Attest J. J. Tayl or, P. R. He was buried in Campground Cemetery, Hopewell, (Tipton C ounty), Tennessee. He appeared on the census. (3) 1830 Cens us, Hawkins County, Tennessee list William Joyner as a male , age 20-30 with a female, age 20-30. Perhaps William was m arried before he married Nancy Dalton.
