IN MEMORIAM

Resolutions by Jonathon Lodge, No. 92, Knights of pythias, upon the death of W. H. Jackson.

Whereas, it hath pleaed Almighty God to remove from our midst by the hand of death our beloved brother, W. H. Jackson, whose spotless life as a Pythian Knight, a friend and fellow citizen, so endeared him to our hearts; and desiring to give some expression to our sad bereavement and to the high esteem in which we held our brother; therefore be it

Resolved, That while we bow in humble submission to this dispensation of tht Providence which doeth all things well, still we very keenly feel that in the death of our brother, this Lodge and all the Pythian Brotherhood lose an earnest, worthy and useful member, the community an upright and valuable citizen, and his family a kind and affectionate father and husband. And while we hold in fond remembrance the many manly virtues of our deceased brother and recognize them as worthy of our emulation as individuals and as Pythian Knights, we are again taught the solemn lession by his untimely son, Born Dec. 26, 1856, initiated as a Charter Member of this Lodge April 19, 1891, Died April 26, 1896."

Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be furnished the Alexander City Outlook and Damon with the request that they publish the same, and that a copy be sent to the family of the deceased.

Alexander City Outlook____1 Nov. 1894

J. S. Jackson has purchased Proctor McCurdy, a fine young stallion raised by Mr. Porter of Hackneyville. He was sired by Stonewall Jackson and is the image of his sire. He is a mahogany bay, compactly built, has long and graceful movements and like all of his blood, the McCurdy Hambletonians, shows rapid speed. Some of the best colts and the best speeded animals of this country are of his blood.

Per cousin, "I remember his brother Uncle Joab harness racing at the fair grounds.
As best as I can remember they were in the County Fair Races."
