Listed on 1900 Alabama, Talladega County, Roll 41 Book 1, Page 222 Census with Francis
I remember when Uncle Seab died. My parents (Dorothy Bates and Ernest Jackson) were living in Opelika. Joel and I were visiting Mama and Daddy for Christmas. Mama and Daddy were putting together a wagon for my sister's son for Chrismas. The wagon did not have one of the holes that allowed a bolt, etc. to go through. Joel and Daddy found tools and was able to put it together. Also, the weather was very cold and the pipes had frozen and we had no water. Daddy was working on that problem when a sherrif came knocking on the door with the telegram telling of Uncle Seab's death. We had early Christmas and left and went to Uncle Seab's house.

DA JOSEPHINE GAMEL:
Ada Josephine Gamel married Glever Dallas Jackson. Glever Dallas Jackson left Ada and his three boys when the boys were very young. He married Lora Brasher. Ada and boys had no contact with him after he left them. She raised the boys by herself. They lived in a house on Spring Street in Sylacauga, AL. I visited her 3 times that I remember. Twice to spend the night and once for the "Wake" after she died. She had a big black kettle in her back yard where she would wash the clothes. I believe she also made her own soap. Her son William Otis Jackson lived with her during one of my visits and I remember her cooking him breakfast, consisting of eggs over easy, grits, tomatoes, ham and hot pepper sauce. He put ketchup on his eggs. I remember she kept an album filled with newspaper clippings about events happening during her life time. I don't know what happened to that album. My sister Dorothy Faye may remember more. Our daddy was Ernest Edwin Jackson, 1901-1981.
