The MCISAAC family has its roots possibly in Nova Scotia, Canada and traveled with the westward moving timber industry to Michigan around 1865 then briefly to Wisconsin and then Stillwater,Mn in 1880. It is here that the McIsaac's and the Dolan's met.James McIsaac,a cook for the lumber camps married Sarah Ann Dolan, daughter of Michael Dolan and Flora Gillis originally from Northumberland Co. in New Brunswick. The McIsaacs started a family in Stillwater and in 1900 moved to Duluth,Mn. In Duluth on 29 June 1909, their son Schiller McIsaac married Pauline Clemetson,daughter of Gabriel Clemetson and Ingeborg Marie Jacobsen. The Clemetson family had a harnessmaking and canvas business that supplied backpacks to the lumberjacks.Schiller and Pauline had one son,Malcolm bornin 1909. The couple separated within a year, however, and Schiller left Duluth and located in Seattle,Wa. where he worked throughout his life for the Great Northern Railway as a brakeman/conductor.His parents and brothers and sisters also relocated around 1915 in and around Spokane,Wa. and northern Idaho.James and Sarah McIsaac made their home and final resting place in Bonners Ferry,Idaho.
