| Our descendants arrived, in New Zealand, from County Tyrone, Ireland on the ship "Countess of Kintore" in April 1876. John McIver married Isabella Anderson, both from County Tyrone, in 1885 - came to New Zealand and settled in Winslow. John was born, near Omagh, abt. 1843 and we believe that Isabella was born abt. 1851, and her father was Thomas. We think that John's father was Daniel, a farmer, but apart from that we are still trying to extend our family tree. My wife, Judy, and I have travelled to Ireland and tried to discover more about John and Isabella McIver without much success in the limited time we had available. 131 years ago John & Isabella arrived in New Zealand and it is appropriate that we should celebrate this milestone by getting as many as possible to a Reunion. The dates we have arranged for the Reunion are the 7th/8th. April 2007. (Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday). We intend beginning on the Saturday afternoon with a bus trip and afternoon tea to the ancestral workplace, at Longbeach Estate, and a Reunion Banquet that night. On Sunday we will begin with a Heritage Celebration, morning tea, followed by photographs, family fun, games and a Barbecue lunch. People will need to make travel and accommodation bookings so we are sending out Registration forms to enable you and our committee to arrange for a memorable reunion. If you see this and have not received a Registration form please email Murray McIver at jandm.nustart@xtra.co.nz We are asking for $20 per adult as a Registration Fee to pay for stationery, stamps, envelopes, display board hire, prizes for the competitions etc., etc. Please complete the form as it will allow us to approach the caterers and bus companies to get quotes for their services. Once these have been established and prices for each function finalized we will then send you an account for the functions that you will be attending. The Hotel Ashburton will be our main venue and the hotel has accommodation available. There are numerous motels and holiday camps nearby.
