Geelong, VIC.  She married JOHN ARTHUR GANLY 2/05/1939 in Geelong, VIC, son of 
ARTHUR GANLY and ADA GRAY.  He was born 26/12/1911 in Geelong, VIC.

Notes for MARGARET ROSALIE BURN:
Brought up by sole parent, Nellie (Pace) after death of father, Norman, in WW1, 
with financial help of a Geelong charitable group (why/ how was she selected 
from the many?).

Marj took in a border in 1943(tbc) during Jack's absence at WW2, at Fairview Ave 
(44).

Notes for JOHN ARTHUR GANLY:
Father died when JAG was 38.  Mother died when JAG was 53.

Jack went to fight in WW2 in 1943.  He was posted to Darwin (nearby) and 
travelled there overland on a devious route by train and truck convoy.  He was a 
private when WW2 but achieved seargent rank before discharge by staying on 6 
weeks to help tidy up military things.

Notes for CARLEEN GANLY:
Totally a teaching career, though she left Vic Educ. Dept to work in learning 
field at RMIT/TAFE with adult education and ESL (English for adult foreigners)

Married Hans (Hasse) on the fly and was never happy in that marriage after the 
early days.  She left him and he eventually returned to Sweden and seafaring as 
an officer/ first officer later.

Instrumental in Marg & Brian getting together by inviting him to a party at 
Marg's shared flat in Kew.

Carleen had several relationships of varying durations, none of which looked 
likely to have a permanence except perhaps that with Dick, until Mike came 
along.

Carleen & Michael bought a farmlet at Bellbrae together, to establish a B&B.  
Carleen continued working in Melbourne, driving to the farm most weekends.

Lovable bear.  Teaching career.  Retired early to establish a farmlet B&B,and to 
escape the teaching lifestyle.  Gregarious.  Old-time dancing fan.  Studied 
horticulture on retirement.

Suffered unexpected heart attack 1999 after which he went on a strict diet and 
lost considerable weight.  Became frightened of health problems after that.

BRIAN JOHN MCKAY 8/03/1974 in Melbourne, son of DOUGLAS MCKAY and MALVA TREWIN.  
He was born 28/06/1938 in Adelaide, SA, Aus - Hutt St Private Hospital.
