Adolph A. Stokdyk (b. October 03, 1857, d. January 28, 1935)
Notes for Adolph A. Stokdyk:Was part owner of the Cedar Grove Foundry
He was a blacksmith, carpenter, pattern maker at the foundry and a builder of boats
Farmed with his father until he was 21 years old
At 21 years old he rented his won land and farmed for two years
Moved to New Amsterdam in Holland township and joined the fishing operations there
Moved to Cedar Grove in 1906
In February, 1911 he was elected president of the Wisconsin Foundry and Steel Works (now known as the Schwab Furnace company
He was a stockholder of the Wisconsin Foundry and Steel Works since 1901
He was secretary for 5 years prior to becoming president
His sons continued in the fishing business and the General Store at Amsterdam
Received his education in the district schools of the town of Halland
Retired from fishing in 1906
Stockholder and director of the Cedar GRove STate bank for several years
Cedar Grove village president for seven years
In April 1933 he was elected to the County Board
Recognized as a boat builder of exceptional ability
Building boats was a fovorite hobby
During his life he built many fushing tugs and scows and received orders from companies operating at points along Lake Michigan andLake Superior
