I am seeking information and other descendants of Neall MacKinnon and Barbara McLeod MacKinnon who were born in Scotland in mid to late 1700's, moved to North Carolina and then to Barbour County, Alabama. Also Alex McKinnon (son of Neall & Barbara) and Catherine McNair who were born in North Carolina in late 1700's or early 1800's. The spelling of Neil, Neill, Neal, Neall, is unimportant-- often changes from Sr. to Jr., etc.
There are many pure-blood Scots buried in the Cemetery of Pea River Presbyterian Church, near Clio, in Barbour County, Alabama. That is 35 miles from my home in Eufaula.
These Scots all spelled their names Mc with the C double underlined. They were not Scotch-Irish.
Also looking for descendants or other persons related to Commodore Perry Long and Amanda Long. C.P. Long was soldier for Confederacy.
Also looking for anyone connected with Bush, Brock, or Slocomb families with connections to Holmes, Washington, or Jackson County, Florida. Also members and descendants of Bush family which lived in or near Dawson, Georgia, back in mid 1800's.
Also looking with anyone connected with the following families in Whitley, Knox, and Laurel Counties, Kentucky: LeForce, Hill, King, Perkins, and Berry. My wife, Wanda Sue LeForce McKinnon, is one of thousands of descendants of Dr. Rene LaForce, a French immigrant who was a friend of William Byrd, a political leader in Virginia back in the 1600's. Lineage: Wanda Sue 9 LeForce McKinnon, (Charles Parker 8 LeForce, Charles William 7 LeForce, Dr. Lee 6 LeForce, Dionysius H. 5 La Force, William Madison 4 La Force, Renald Rene 3 La Force III, Renald Rene 2 La Force, Jr., Dr. Renald Rene 1 La Force) We are uncertain of when spelling changed from La Force to LeForce, possibly with Dionysius. We are particularly in need of information about Dionysius LeForce and his descendants.
Of course, we will be happy to share all information that we have collected. Since I am still practicing country law, I might be a little slow at times in responding to email. My wife has been able to run her Le Force ancestry back 10 generations. I tell her that she now has 1023 lineages left to trace.
