We are currently researching our family tree and find that a number of the McKays emigrated to the USA about the turn of the century [1900 to about 1930]. These McKays came from FORFAR in the County of Angus [or Forfarshire] in Scotland. The father McKay of the emigrants was a master stone mason and one of his sons, my grandfather, who remained in Forfar, was also a master mason. Another problem is that an earlier McKay, having started an illegitimate family [about 1856], took the easy way out and 'ran away', probably to Australia. We can find no records to trace the family any further back. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.
