I am researching the Robert James McKnight family from Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Robert James McKnight first appears in the 1850 census of Williamsburg County. He Married Sophronia Catherine Jordon Abt. 1840 and they had eleven children. Five daughters: Martha Julia, Mary M., Elizabeth D., Nancy C., Virginia Ann Ruby and six sons: William Edward, John Jehu, James Lazarus, Zachary Taylor, Peter Robert and Samuel Milton.

In 1850 Robert James McKnight and his family lived in Williamsburg County, South Carolina in a community called Hogeye. This settlement was in Sumter Township in the Northwestern section of Williamsburg County.

I've made contact with descendants of Martha Julia, Nancy C., Virginia Ann Ruby, William Edward, John Jehu, James Lazarus, Zachary Taylor and Samuel Milton McKnight.

Peter Robert, in honor of his father, changed his name to Robert James McKnight, never married and had no children.

Elizabeth D. McKnight married John McKenzie but they didn't have any children.

Mary M. McKnight married a Gray (possibly James Gray) and they had two sets of twins. Moved from Williamsburg County and I can't find any trace of them.

Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.

I really need to find what happened to Mary M. McKnight (and the Gray family)
