This update 08 July, 2007.
The tree has suddenly obtained 4,600+ names over the last few months! Much if this is due to receiving input from contacts at the perimeter of my main family group but is never the less of great interest. Genes Reunited site has also recently been able to upload Gedcoms and by doing this i have met all sorts of people - one with over 700,000 names on their tree! This makes my one pretty small beer.
I have "met" or rather communicated with the family of the legendery R G W Mackilligin who wrote the definitive history of our family. That was fascinating. One of the old seats which the family had through marriage, Teananich on the Black Isle and which was the inspiration for "Little Lord Fontilroy" is at present on the market. Anyone with a spare £1.5m can let me know!
Have recently been exploring the Banff area where George and James McKilligan were both Provosts of the town. Their stones are in the old churchyard but covered in moss
Good luck and thanks to all for help and advice.Keep the data coming in.
