I am researching the August Wichmann, Bernadine Reverman family of Covington, KY. August was born in Germany Sept. 27, 1827, came to America and married Bernadine, born June 8, 1830. They had seven children, only three of whom survived childhood. Elizabeth (April 13,1862), Charles (Nov. 02, 1869) and John August "Gus"(May 25, 1871).

From what little I have gathered so far, I know that Bernadine's mother's name was Sophie. August and Bernadine owned at least two boarding houses in Covington located at 6th and Washington, and August worked for his brother Leo (I believe his name may have really been Henry), who owned a coal company located at 1022 Greenup St,corner of Greenup and Robins. While working on a barge, August fell overboard and drowned on June 21, 1872. Bernadine (aka "Dena")died 6 years later, leaving her 3 young children to be raised by her brother-in-law and his wife. Bernadine had three sisters, Philomina Reverman (married name Von Bogan - resided in Florence, KY) Sudie Reverman, and Haytkin Reverman (married to Clem Koors).

Elizabeth Wichmann married John Windschiegl, Nov. 22, 1888 in Covington, KY at Mother of God Church. They had three daughters, Caroline, Mary, and Elizabeth (called Lillie) and two sons, John and Frank. They moved to Saskatchwan Canada around 1903 or 1904.

Charles Wichmann never married. Gus married Elizabeth Schroder in Covington, at St. Joseph's Church. Charles and Gus bought a building at 12th and Scott St. in Covington and operated the "Gus Wichmann Saloon". Gus and Elizabeth had 9 children, John, Gertrude, Frank, Pauline, Bernadine, Mary Elizabeth, August - aka Gus, Charles, and Robert.

I would like to have more information on August and Bernadine, and am willing to share any information I have on their descendants. Please contact me at the e-mail and regular addresses listed.
