I am a descendant of Donald McKinnon and Mary McDonald. They settled on lot 6 in concession 9 Caledonia Township c. 1829. Sometime after the death of Donald in 1839, his widow moved to Kenyon Township, Glengarry County, to be near her son Roderick and his wife Margaret McPhee. Their son John (my ancestor), remained in Caledonia Township longer. He appears with his family in the 1851 Caledonia Township Census. John, his wife Angélique Lalonde and their children, were living in Plantagenet North when the 1881 Canada Census was taken. On the same census, their son, Donald and his wife Charlotte McMillan settled in Lochiel township in the Glengarry County. In the early 1900's their son Donald, his wife Mélina Lavigne and their son Daniel, my grandfather, moved to Hull, Québec. My family has continued to live in the area ever since.
