Surnames I am researching are MASSEY, SOUTHERS, BISHOP, FORRESTER, JONES, CROZIER, LEDBETTER, BOOZER, MARTIN. The MASSEY's are from NC, the SOUTHERS are from SC, the FORRESTER's are from SC, the CROZIER's are from NC. I don't have any information on the other families. They all eventually settled in Alabama . Richard Massey was the president of the University of Texas in the late 1800's and married Emma Bishop (an art teacher) and eventually bought land in what is now Moundville, Alabama. Richard was married before ( first wife unknown) and had children Richard (who was born in approx. 1772), and Albert. I believe there were more. He also taught in Marian, Alabama before going to the University of Texas. He started the Massey Business Schools which my Aunts attended in Birmingham, AL, but I think it is closed know. He has a living grandson named Richard Massey in the Birmingham area. My Greatgrandfather Beauchamp Forrester was married to Willie Crozier from North Carolina. My grandmother always told me that her Greatgrandmother was a full blooded Cherokee Indian. Beauchamp came from South Carolina and settled in Southeast Alabama in Houston County. One of his Forrester ancestors was supposedly the first senator of Alabama, but I haven't been able to find a name. They had two children Meta (born 10-1903) and Floyd who was older. There was another sister (Florrie?) that died from Diptheria when very young. My Greatgrandfather George William Jones was married to Bettie Martin and was the minister of the First Methodist Church in Hartford, Alabama. There children were Louis Rivers, Floy, Hortense, and Lurlene.Gillum Southers (DOB 1814) was married to Elizabeth Boozer (DOB 1820). They had a son Joseph Charity Southers who lived from 1858-1908 and married Sallie Ledbetter (1868-1934).Sor far I am having no luck trying to find the Southers family or any of the Forrester's from Beauchamp on.
