Columbus Washington George was born in Henry Co, GA 52 yrs ago & died in Atlanta Oct 26, 1902. His experience since he left the home of his youth & went forward to seek his fortune form an interesting narrative. Early in life he started for the West landing in Texas when not much more than a boy. Remaining there for several years he then worked his way northward along the frontier until he reached Oregon where he & a friend entered the cattle business together. They were quite successful in their business venture & was soon firmly established in the far Northwest. Mr George entered masonry several yrs ago & was prominent in the fraternal circles of his Northwestern home. He has traveled over much of the United States & has borne the reputation of an honorable upright gentleman being held high in the esteem of his fellow men. He returned to Georgia 4 or 5 yrs ago all broken down in health & gradually grew worse until the end came. He died at the home of his brother W. W. George in Atlanta. His body was brought here for burial. The funeral services being conducted by Rev. C. M. Brittain at the home of Mr. Walter Welch. He was buried with masonic honors. He leaves 2 brothers & 2 sisters & many other relatives & friends to mourn their loss.
