Hansford Harrison Wright Home Page

Hansford Harrison Wright, b. 4/1855, KY, married Matilda Jane Woodring, b. 8/17/1856, Glendale, KY, in 1884 in Kentucky. I'm not sure where Hansford was born or where they were married, presumably Kentucky. They had 2 daughters and 1 son: Carrie Lena, b. 3/3/1885, KY, d. 7/13/1931, Indpls, IN; Ona Mae, b. 9/1/1887, Hodgensville, LaRue Cty, KY, d. 2/21/1977 in VA; and Oscar Virgil, b. 10/23/1889, Hodgensville, LaRue Cty, KY, and d. 8/3/1969, Louisville, KY. They ran a boarding house in Lebanon Junction, KY, where Carrie and George Leonard McKinney (my grandfather) met and married. He worked for L&N Railroad and they moved to Lousville, KY, and then Indianapolis, IN, approx 1907. Ona married Clavel T. Wilfong, a psychiatrist, and lived in Virginia. We were told growing up that the Wright brothers were our gr-gr-gr-uncles, but we have no proof. Tilley's parents were Joseph Woodring and Melvina Thomas. Tilley died 11/27/1942, a widow, at her son's home in Louisville, KY. Oscar also worked for the L&N Railroad and he was married to Nettie Wright.

George and Lena had 5 boys, one of which died in infancy: Leonard Paul, b. 7/23/1905, KY, d. 10/2/1911, Indianapolis, IN, diptheria; Virgil Ernest, b. 5/30/1907, KY, d. 8/20/1933, Indianapolis, IN; George Marcus, b. 4/10/1910, Indianapolis, IN, d. 1/19/1951, Indianapolis, IN; Ralph Hollister, b. 11/18/1913, Indianapolis, IN, d. 12/11/1994; and John Allen, b. 9/26/1919, Indianapolis, IN, d. 1/23/1997, Indianapolis, IN.

My gr-grandfather, George Marion McKinney, b.12/21/1838, Mississippi, d.1/10/1909, Indianapolis, IN, met and married Laura C. Miller, b.4/2/1851, Water Valley, Yalobusha, MS, d. 5/5/1931, Indianapolis, IN, and had 7 children: James A., b.1870; Adeline, b.1875; William Mikel, b.1876, Mississippi, d. 12/1/1917, Indianapolis, IN; George Leonard, b.6/6/1880, Starksville, MS, d.2/9/1957, Indianapolis, IN; Cynthia, Nellie and Diza. William Mikel McKinney married Jennie, and was a stationary engineer at time of death. I know next to nothing about these people besides my grandfather, and would like to learn more.

His grandfather (my gr-gr-grandfather) was Michael McKinney of North Carolina, and his mother was Cynthia Adeline Washington of South Carolina. They had 2 sons, James b. 1834 and Allen b. 1850, all three born in Starksville, MS.

All information will be appreciated and I will be glad to share what info I have. I am very interested in our medical tree, as well.
