Served as a private for 1 reg't (Harris) Georgia Militia, War of 1812.

Index to Georgia wills lists a record for Jacob McKee (Henry County) 1822-1834, request was sent to Henry County, GA for these documents 6/98.

Index to Georgia marriages lists Jacob McKee marrying Nancy Peacock on 8/27/1805 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia. Request for records sent on 6/98. Also lists in this county marriage records for Grunney McKee marrying Benjamin Davis on 10/10/1801, Samuel McKee marrying Elizabeth Manship on 1/9/1803. Lidie McKee marrying Durham Orr 12/29/1808. Lidie, Samuel and Grunney were probably Jacobs brother and sisters.

1830 Henry County, Georgia census lists: Jacob McKee, 1 male under 5 (Milton), 2 males 10-15 (Linsey & John V.) 1 male 15-20 (Samuel H.), 1 male 40-50, 1 female 30-40, 1 female 70-80.

1840 Carroll County, Georgia census lists: Jacob McKee, 1 male 5-10, 1 male 10-15, 1 male 50-60, 1 female 40-50. Also lists: Samuel H. McKee, 1 male under 5, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 20-30. Linsey McKee, 1 male 20-30, 1 female 20-30.

1850 Randolph County, Alabama census lists: Jacob McKee, 69 years old, farmer, POB: S.C., Mary McKee, 55 years old, POB: Georgia, Alexandra (spelling?) McKee, 12 years old, POB: Georgia.

1860 Randolph County Alabama census lists Jacob McKee, 79 years old, under John V. McKee's family. Mary McKee (jacob's wife) was listed under Linsey McKee's family.


In 1828, Henry County Georgia, Jacob was made administrator to the estate of John McKee, deceased. Recorded 21 February 1828. County records page 73, Henry County, Was John Jacob's brother? I think there is reason to believe he was.

Index to the Headright and Bounty Grants of Georgia 1756-1909: Jacob McKee, Madison County, M-5 Grant book, page 163, 400 acres, 1820 year. 1820 Census for Madison County Georgia shows only Betsey McKee and one male child 10-16, one female child 16-24, two more 26+ and one 40+.


Regarding the possible father of Jacob, John McKee, Authentic list of all land lottery grants made to veterans of the Revolutionary War by the State of Georgia lists the following:

William Peacock, brother to Nancy Peacock, married Rachel McGee in Oglethorpe County Georgia December 2, 1803. Could Rachel be a sister of Jacob? Three other siblings of Nancy married persons with the same last name.

Henry County Georgia, Deed book H, page 242, DeKalb county, Jacob McKee sold to Jesse W. Tanner, both of said county, on Oct. 17, 1835 for the sum of $600, 202 1/2 acres, lot #230 in dist. 12. Wit: James W. Jones, William Terry J.P. recorded April 25, 1837.

Possible mother of Jacob was Mary McKee. Jacob had a woman living with his household in Henry county GA in the 1830 census that was 70-80 years of age. Henry Co. Will Book A, 1834-1869 lists a will of Mary McKee, signed by her on Oct. 6, 1838. Lists a son Robert and Lewis Moore, administrator, and James M. McKee.. Probated Nov. 5, 1838. County records, page 78, Henry county, Sale of negro belonging to the estate of Mary McKee, deceased first tuesday in January 1840, Henry, a man sold to James McKee for $950. Lewis Moon (Possibly Moore) administrator. Recorded 30 September 1841.

Henry County GA. Deed book H, page 346, county deed book H, page 242 DeKalb County, Jacob McKee sold to Jesse W. Tanner, both of said county, on October 17, 1835 for the sum of $600, 202 1/2 acres, lot #230 in Dist. 12. Wit: James W. Jones, William Terry J.P. recorded April 25, 1837.

There are only two McKees buried in Henry County Georgia; William L. McKee b. 11/3/1800, d. 11/31/1856. Jane McKee, b. 12/31/1804, d. 1/27/1853. Both are buried at the Indian Creek Baptist Church site.

Date of birth may have been April 25, 1781.

  Notes for ALEXANDRA MCKEE:
Listed on 1850 Randolph County Alabama census under Jacob & Mary McKee's family being 12 years old. I am assuming Alexandra is their daughter, however, she could have been a granddaughter.
