Sheppard Mize was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Sheppard bought 150 acres of land in 1791 in Union Co., South Carolina before buying land in 1809 in Putnam Co., Georgia. Union County is where Thomas Mize's parents Jeremiah Jr. & Nancy Mize moved to about 1800 from either Lunenburg/Brunswick Co. Virginia or possibly from Orange Co. North Carolina.
Ty Cobb was the gr. grandson of Thomas Mize. Thomas had a daughter named Sicily Mize who married Capt. Caleb Chitwood and had a daughter named Amanda; Ty Cobbs mother.
