      1. Samuel1 Mc Kinley was born March 18, 1797 in Washington Co, PA, and died December 13, 1867 in Mohican Twp., Ashland County, OH. He married Mary (Nancy) Starkey, daughter of Benjamin Starkey and Sarah. She was born April 27, 1800 in PA, and died December 28, 1864 in Hayesville, Ashland County, OH.

Samuel was born in Washington County, PA. He married Mary (Nancy) Starkey.
They had 9 children. They along with their children moved to Ohio, to what was then Wayne Co. After Ashland County was formed, in 1846, it was part of the new county. They moved a little west to the Haysville area and in 1849, they bought a farm of 80 acres to the northwest of Haysville. They later sold 10 acres to their daughters and the remaining 70 acres to their son Samuel. They moved into the town of Haysville and remained there until their death.
Samuel appeared in the 1840 census of Wayne County. It listed him living in Plain Twp of Wayne County and having 8 children along with his wife living with him.
In the 1850 census of Ashland County, Vermillion Twp, he was listed as being 53 years old and having 8 children living with him and his wife. It stated that he was a farmer and was born in PA. His oldest son William was married at this time.
In the 1860 census of Ashland County, Vermillion Twp, he was listed as being 63 years old and a farmer, born in PA. and his wife and 6 children were still living with him.

  Notes for Mariah Mc Kinley:
Mariah was born in Lancaster Co., PA, abt 1823. In 1835 she moved from PA to OH with her parents. Her obit in the Ashland Gazett, stated that she had cancer and that her death might have been speeded up by the death of her sister the day before. They had a double funeral for her and her sister, Nancy. The funeral was conducted on Friday the 2nd of March 1888, by Rev. W. B. Rae and assisted by Rev. Kauffman in the U.P. Church. It stated that interment was made for both her and her sister, Nancy in the same grave in the Vermillion Cemetery in Haysville, OH. The obit stated that they died 2 days apart, but the county records at the Courthouse stated that they died 1 day apart.

In the 1860 census of Ashland County, Vermillion Twp, she was listed living at home with her partents, Samuel and Mary and that she was 29 years old.

Isabella is memtioned in her father's will as a daughter. Her tombstone in the Vermillion Cemetery is a four sided stone. She is listed on the stone with her other 3 sisters. One girl listed on each side.
In the 1850 census of Vermillion Twp, Ashland Co., OH, she was laisted as living at home with her parents, Samuel and Mary Mc Kinley.
In the 1860 census of Vermillion Twp, Ashland Co., OH, she was listed as living with her parents, Samuel and Mary Mc Kinley.

  Notes for Nancy Jane Mc Kinley:
Nancy was born Sept 17, 1843 in Wayne Co., OH, the daughter of Samuel and Mary Starkey.
The 1850 census of Vermillion Twp., Ashland Co., OH, stated that she was single living at home with her parents and was 7 years old.
The 1860 census of Vermillion Twp., Ashland Co., OH, stated that she was single, living at home with her parents and was 16 years old.
Her death record stated that the cause of death was a tumor. The paper stated that Nancy suffered a long time from tumors and on this Tuesday the 28th of Feb of 1888, she had an operation and they removed a 40 pound growth. The operation was a success, but the strain was too great and she passed away 36 hours later. It also stated that a Dr. Dunlap from Springfield, Dr Myers of Ashland, assisted by Dr's Kendig, Budd, McClain and Scott performed the operation.
She along with her sister Marie were buried on Friday the 2nd of March 1888. in the Vermillion Cemetery in the same grave at the same time. The furnal services were conducted by Rev W. S. Rae, assisted by Rev. Kauffman in the U. P. Church. This took place at 10:00 A.M.
