Little is known of the McKay origins - first known was Alexander McKay who was born in 1821, in Inverness, Sutherlandshire, Scotland, emigrated to Zorra Ontario, married Christina MacLeod (of Thurso, Caithness, Scotland) and had, for certain, one son, George Lewis McKay, and possibly others, including a daughter, Mary. We are seeking any information we can find on this early part of our family.

Likewise, we know little of the other side, Simons (and Topel).
My grandfather, George Friehold Simons and his wife Marie Adeline Topel lived in Wilamette, IL for most of their lives. We are seeking more information on this branch of our family.

Lastly, Susan K Daggett,MD, (mid-1800's) wife of Henry Whitford, was the first woman doctor licensed to practice in Illinois. I believe she was also active with her husband on the underground railroad. Any more information on Susan would be welcome.

I will be happy to share my information with anyone with an interest and to receive any new information (or cousins).
