Josiah was always called "Bo'son" or Old Bo'son". He was a scout among the Indians and a Minute Man in the Revolutionary War. He was an expert raftsman. At one time he warned the settlers at Wyoming (near Wilkes-Barre Pa., of an impending raid planned by the Indians upon the settlement. They failed to heed his warning and history records the fate that befell them (Wyoming Massacre, July 3 1778).
