My research began with a simple search for my father's McCay (McKay) relatives of northern Alabama. This search quickly expanded to include the related families ADAMS, MAYFIELD, STOCKLEY, and SANDERSON on my father's side; GROGAN, McCALL, STEPHENS, and SMITH on my mother's side.

Primary areas where the families resided are Blount, Cullman, Clay, and Talladega counties of Alabama, although the family extends to many other states, including North Carolina, Florida, Georgia, California, Oklahoma, and New Mexico.

Resources include libraries, census records, cemeteries, old family records, personal memories of many individuals, and the research efforts of family members who have spent endless hours documenting information.

To the extent possible when researching old, and often incomplete documents, the data included in my Family Tree is accurate. I take full responsibility for any errors and welcome corrections or input from others.

Many sections are incomplete...this is a work in progress!

I hope you enjoy browsing through my Family Tree and find useful information that assists you in your search!

Rebecca (Becky) Susan McKay

NOTE: The original spelling of the family name is "McCay". My grandfather and one of his brothers changed the spelling to "McKay" due to mail confusion.
