I started to research my family tree in 1995 after my Mum died. It helped me come to terms with her loss. Over the years it has grown into a near obsession, I can't get enough information about all of my ancestors. It is such a fascinating hobby, finding out about family life before our own! I wish I could concentrate on one name, but I am too eager to find out about all my ancestors! Unfortunately I do not have as much time to devote to it as I would like, as I work full time in a school, have a husband and two young adults to mother(!!) and run the home as well.
Some of the names that appear on my tree are:
Applegate, Bishop, Branton, Chapman, Doe, Ewell, Goozee, Hutton, Mackelden, McLeod, Morris, Tidd, Wakefield.
My tree is full of unknown dates but I am working on this by visiting the PRO in London.
Update January 2000
I have been lucky over the past few weeks to make contact with two people who have helped me with my Mackelden's and Applegates.
Having discovered that Elizabeth Mackelden was registered using her mother's maiden name of Attaway (as she was born out of wedlock) and that she was christened on the same day as her brother (a Mackelden) I have been able to prove that my Mackelden's are the same branch as those belonging to Karen Palin who has researched the family back to Thomas born 1795. Thank you Karen!
The other person I made contact with via the Wiltshire family History Society. We have a positive link with the Applegate branch of the family. Many thanks to Adrian & Katie Targett for sharing their information with me.
My next line of investigation is the Wakefield branch. I have them back to Charles Saffery Wakefield and Phoebe Wade who had Charles Theodore in 1855.
Any Wakefield contact would be appreciated!
Update February 2000
This is what it's all about!I have brought together two members of the Goozee line who, unknowingly, are living a mile apart. Their forebears emigrated to the States many years apart and knew nothing of the others existence until I was contacted through the internet by Carol and found out where she lived. My father's cousin Joyce Branton and Carol Dugger have since met up (which is more than I have done!).

I have been in touch with Jean Smeeton, who, together with her distant cousin, has spent many, many years researching the Goozees. I would like to thank them both for all their effort and for sharing it with me.
June 2001
Over the past year I have had many contacts from people researching the same names as myself. But one of the most exciting is finding my second cousin, Grant, living in Canada. He searched the web for the name Wakefield and found my site. After contacting me and extracting as many memories as he could from his father we have confirmed our connection. We do have a mystery to unravel, but hey, that's what it's all about!!
Also Helen from Australia has contacted me regarding the Applegate branch and again it looks like we could be second or is it third cousins!!
