* McLellan Family - Islay, Scotland*

Updated April 1, 2003

Dougal McLellan and his wife Marion immigrated from Islay, Scotland in the early 1800's to Bagot, Renfrew County, Ontario Canada.
My Great-Grandfather, William McLellan and his wife Elizabeth (Barry) moved west in the late 1800s and farmed at Stephenfield, Manitoba.

In 1987 I visited Islay and obtained records, from the centre in Port Charlotte,of all entries for McLellans - births, deaths, rent rolls, etc. - up to the end of the 1800's.

Currently, I am searching for information which would confirm Dougal McLellan's father to be John or Dougal McLellan. I have reason to believe these are the McLellan connection referred to by Margaret C. Storrie in her book ... Islay: Biography of an Island ... as the "heirs of Esknish farm".

If you have a connection to any McLellans from Islay, I would be happy to share the information I have.
