I am researching information on my paternal great-grandfather, Stephen McLaughlin and my maternal great-grandfather, Francis Lee.Stephen McLaughlin was born about 1822. I believe he was born in County Roscommon, Ireland. Stephen joined the British Army and rose to the rank of Barracks Sgt. He served througout England and South America. He was a member of the 45th Foot Regiment.In 1861, while assigned to the Parkhurst Barracks in Leicester, England he married Alice Doyle Brady, a widow. They had four children; Laughlin William, my grandfather, was born December 6, 1862 in Leicester; Stephen born January 31, 1865at Cliff End Fort, Isle of Wight; Alice born April 21, 1867 at Gosport; and Michael Peter born May 3, 1869 at Portland. Alice died at the age of sixteen on May 27, 1883 in Birmingham.Stephen's wife, Alice, died on January 22, 1886 in Birmingham. Stephen returned to Irleland and died on August 12, 1887 in Roosky, County Roscommon, Ireland. Laughin William and MIchael Peter emigrated the United States and settled in Providence, Rhode Island. Stephen disappeared.Francis Lee was born about 1834 in County Roscommon, Ireland. He married Bridge Morris. Bridget was born about 1840 in County Roscommon, Ireland. They had at least five children that I know of: Annie, my maternal grandmother, was born in 1863 or 1864; Ellen, Mary T.; Margaret and Bedelia. All five daughters emigrated to the United States and settled in Rhode Island.Francis Lee died on July 28, 1901 in Eden or Fairymount, County Roscommon, Ireland. Bridget Morris Lee died on May 7, 1915 in Eden or Fairymount, County Roscommon, Ireland.I would appreciate any information on the families of Stephen McLaughlin and Francis Lee. I will share any additional information on obtain on each family.
