Hello! I've been researching my tree for quite some years now. Mostly online and by linking to other trees. Most of my ancestors came from England, Ireland, Scotland, and the Ukraine. I've heard through the family that there are others who have come from France and Norway, although I haven't gotten to them yet. So far, I have over 1,000 people in the tree. This is due in great part to the work of my great uncle Robert Holman who wrote 5 volumes on the family history. I have been entering the information into the computer but haven't gotten to all of it yet.
Most of my family settled in Massachusetts, being among the first settlers and colonists. Many fought in King Philip's war and were very involved in town and village affairs.
As for my Ukraine ancestors, I would appreciate any help anyone has to give. I went to the Ukraine in 2004 to visit the ancestral home of my great grandparents. I visited the village (I think or at least it was a similar village) where they came from. As the town and city names have changed alot and are spelled many different ways, it has been hard locating exactly where. Listed on the Ellis Island Ship database, my great grandfather is said to have come from Lachowetz, Russia. As they had told the family, it was in the Ukraine. I have found a place, with others help, of Lakyviche (spelled several different ways) which I think may be the place. If you have any information or helpful hints, please feel free to email me.
I will be updating this site periodically, so check back!
Update 2/13/08: My computer has crashed so there may be some mistakes. I am in the process of trying to recover all info, and will clarify the tree.
Thanks, Julie McLaughlin
