I am trying to trace the origin of the WILLIAMS family who settled in the Chatham area of Soutwestern Ontario in the late 1800s. Harry Hawtry William WILLIAMS (b. Feb 13, 1856 Ireland), married Lucy DAVEY (d. 1885 in Hay Cty, Ontario). I believe Harry and Lucy emigrated from England in approx. 1884.Prior to that Harry taught school at the Southgate Boys Church of England School. They had 3 daughters:Ila Lucy (1882-1927),Jessie Evelyn (1880 -?), Olive Honor (1884-?)The girls' mother died when they were very young and I believe that the girls went to live with 3 separate families.I do not know their names nor where they were located, but since Ila was living in Chatham at the time of her marriage in 1902, she must not have been sent far. Ila Lucy WILLIAMS married Caleb Lee Clarke JOHNSON in Oct 1902 near Chatham Ontario. They had 3 children:Harold Lee (1905-1973), Evelyn Lucy (1908 - 1968) and Donald Douglas (1918 - ). Donald Douglas JOHNSON is my father. I would love to hear from anyone with information on the Williams family and am of course willing to share what I already know.
