Confederate States Army. Killed by invading yankees in Americus, GA. The original information on the John Allen Hornsby/Narcissa Cole Family was taken from Daniel Preston Cole's note book on genealogy which was given to Alma Hornsby Bryan in 1972. Connie Cole Pace (who gave the family information to Alma) resided at Route 1 Box 252B, Chander, Arizona at teh time the information was compiled. Alma Hornsby Bryan provided this and other Hornsby Family information to Jesse W. White in 1992. At this time she resided at: P.O. Box 217, Coleman, Texas, 76834. Alma is a descendant of Leonard Arnold Hornsby, John Allen Hornsby's brother.

Since the original information was compiled additional information has been added and some corrections made from information in the Jackson Decal Hornsby Family Bible, and from surviving family members.

The information on the death date and burial location of John Allen Hornsby is from: " Confederate Soldiers, Sailors, and Civilians who died as Prisoners of War at Camp Douglas, Chicago, Illinois 1862-1865", by Edgar Gray Publications, P.O. Box 181, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49005.

Mr. Stevens has always been refered to as Jay Stevens. After his wife, Sarah Elizabeth, died Jay moved to Pine Level and remarried. His son, John DeVaughn Stevens, was left with the Hornsby Family who raised him. The name of John J. Stevens and the birth and death dates shown on his family sheet are from the Methodist Church Cemetery in Pine Level and are most likey the same person but it has not been confirmed.
