McManis research appears to trace back to the 1700's in Pennsylvania. My documented research goes to Jesse McManis and starts with him in Pennsylvania in 1850 and in 1860 in Ohio. Census reports indicate he and his wife were born in PA. Jesse (ca 1814) and Leonora Bartholf (ca 1820). Preliminary research in Pennsylvania indicated through TAX records/Polls are that John (born in the late 1700s in Pennsylvania)may be Jesse's father and a Joseph McManis may be John's father. However that has not been 100% substantiated. John's wife appears to be Margaret (maiden name unk). James and Rebecca Bartholf (Rebecca's maiden name unk)were Leonora's parents and were living in Clarion County, Pennsylvania (Piney Township)as were Jesse and Leonora.(1850 Census).

I am interested in continuing these lines back. I am also willing to share my entire research and work with others in furthering this research. I am well sourced.
