General Hamer was a cousin of Hugh Hamer. He was the son of William Hamer, the brother of Thomas Hamer, Jr. He came from Pennsylvania and New York to Georgetown, Ohio. He was U.S. Congressman from Ohio. He died in the War with Mexico in 1846.
