Dixon Robinson was the son of Elias and Elinor (Johnson) Robinson of Daviess County, Indiana. His grandfather was Elijah Nash Robinson, who came to southern Indiana in the 1820's from Virginia, then Kentucky. He married Mary Jane Cochran. He is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Daviess County, Indiana. His mother, Elinor Johnson Pulliam Robinson Doherty Adams is buried on the same lot with Dixon in an unmarked grave, as is his brother, Robert Pulliam.
