The tombstone in the Hamer Cemetery at Spring Mill State Park reads: "Thomas L. Hamer, Died August 9, 1856. Aged 55 years, 5 months, 18 days. On the right is buried his wife, Hannah Fitzpatrick Hamer, on the left is buried his son, Johnson Robert Hamer. Directly behind his grave is the grave of his brother, James Hamer.
