George Augustus Hamer was the son of Hugh Hamer Jr and Ann Maria Dalton Hamer McNamara. He worked on the railroad and his wife, Laura Harvey Hamer, and father in law, James Harvey, are buried in Flora, Illinois, where the railroad shops were located when they died. "Gus" died in a car accident near Vincennes, Indiana.
