Thomas L. Hamer was the brother of Hugh Hamer. He was partner with him at the mill until his son, Johnson Robert Hamer, died in 1848. His own health deteriorated and he died in 1856. His wife was Hannah Fitzpatrick Hamer. This painting was done by Patrick Davenport in 1856 from an earlier tintype. Thomas died in 1856.
