William Hamer came West with his father, Thomas Hamer, and his siblings, Hugh, Thomas L., Lettie, James and Joseph Hamer in the middle 1800's. He settled at Hamer's Corner and ran an Inn. Hamers Corner was later incorporated into Clyde, Ohio.
