James Hamer (1806-1848) was the brother of Hugh Hamer. He died as a young man in Lawrence County Indiana. He is buried in the Hamer Cemetery in Spring Mill State Park. His wife, Sophia Wood Hamer, moved West with most of their children in the 1880's, and is buried in Ray County, Missouri.
