Harrison Hamer (1839-1924) was born in Lawrence County, Indiana. His parents were James & Sophia (Wood) Hamer. He served in the Home Guard of the Northern Army at the beginning of the Civil War. He moved to Missouri where he served in the Confederate Forces for the remainder of the War. He died in Nevada, Missouri, at a daughter's, and was returned to be buried in his home county, Barton County, Missouri.
