2. CHARLES2 CAMPBELL (CHARLES 1) was born 1759 in Augusta County, Virginia, and died August 21, 1843. He married MARY ALEXANDER 1785 in Augusta County, Virginia.

Notes
At age 18 he volunteered with the 10th Regiment, Virginia and fought under Wayne and Green. He served three years, fighting in the battles of Brandywine, Stony Point, Monmouth, White Plains and Camden. After marrying Mary Alexander in Virginia they moved to North Carolina and then Tennessee. In 1820 he had imigrated to Lauderdale county, Alabama. It appears that Charles Campbell's son had died and he was raising his grandson, William M. Campbell.
In 1830 in Lauderdale County, Alabama, he owned four slaves, and his household included 2 males 5 to 10, 1 male 10 to 15, 1 male 70 to 80, 1 female 70 to 80 in addition to the four slaves.
