McMillon's Family Tree

Updated April 27, 2008

rmmcmillon@yahoo.com

I have traced the McMillon's back to the 1860 U.S. census that shows Elisha and Mary McMillon were starting a family in Coffee County, TN. They sold their property in Bedford County in 1890 and moved to Grayson County, Texas.

Two of their children did not move to Texas with them. Robert Guy McMillon stayed in the Shelbyville area until his death in 1921. Sarah married James Alvis Laughlin. He was a teacher and ran Arkansas Cumberland College until moving to Missouri to teach math.

The census shows Elisha and Mary were born in Tennessee and both of thier parents were born in North Carolina.

Mary and Elisha had six children. Thomas F. McMillon died at the age of 20 and is buried in Beech Grove, Tennessee. Susan, Ridley Johnson, and Charles Benton moved to Grayson County, texas with their parents. Susan ended up living with her sister in Missouri, Ridley Johnson married Allie Mae Wells and had two boys. They moved to Altus, Oklahoma at about the time of statehood. Charles Benton stayed in the Pottsboro, Texas area until his death.

Elisha and Mary are buried in Grayson County, Texas.

I hope to find someone who may have a McMillon Family Bible and people who may have family photos.
