| I am currently searching for a link for the McMennamin family to Ireland. Best information so far indicates that County Tyrone is the best guess. Immigration occurred either into St. John, NB, Canada or possibly Boston, MA. in 1841. Most of the early family spread from Canada into Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Today small family groups can be found throughout the United States including New Jersey, Ohio, California and Pennsylvania. There is another possible family link into Philadelphia, PA. but so far I have not been able to connect it. I am particularly interested in this branch since I believe it resulted from a separate immigration, perhaps from the same family in Ireland. Spelling changes have occurred after immigration but the double n in the middle of McMennamin makes the name rather unique and thus results in fewer false name chases. Anyone with information that could help me please contact me at roybmcm@comcast.net. |
