I am beginning a search of the McNiven family, thought to originate in Scotland in the vicinity of Doune, near Stirling. An unconfirmed report suggests that John McNiven emigrated from Scotland to Australia in 1854. I wonder where this will lead me? I know that the process is a two-way one, and I would be more than happy to share what little knowledge I have.
