He was born on January 29, 1829, the sone of Robert and Amelia (Warner) of "Elmwood."
He received a good education, including advanced training at Canandaigua Academy.At the age of twnety-one (21), he went to Fond du Lac, WI, staying there for one (1) season, and then returning home.(Biographical Review, op.cit.).
After his marriage on October 19, 1853, Charles and Henrietta McNair lived on a farm near Mount Morris, NY.Charles was described in later years as a "practical and progressive agriculturist," and an "owner of an excellent farm which he managed with profitable results."(Ibid.)
He died at his home in Sonyea, NY, on January 18, 1899.He had been an elder of the First Presbyterian Church in Sparta, NY for more than ten (10) years.The Reverend Dr. Parsons of Mount Morris conducted the funeral service at the McNair home in Sonyea, NY on January 21.(Rochester Presbytery News), March 1899, vol. v, pp. 5,6).
