Find Family
After my grandfather Homer Russell died in 1995, I started researching his ancestry. Fortunately, there has been quite a bit of research done previously and it was available in a local (Houston, TX) public library. His ancestors have resided in Nacogoches County in East Texas since the 1840s. Grandpa's parents were Peyton F. Russell and Hattie Coats. Peyton Russell: Father= James V. Russell; Grandfather=Gibson RussellHattie Coats: Father=William Jackson Coats; Grandfather= Andrew Jackson "Jack" Coats.

In addition, I have researched the family of my grandmother Willie Mae (Green) Russell. She was the daughter of William H Green and Rhoda Seelbach of Nacogdoches, Texas. William Green came to Texas around 1900 from South Carolina and his father's name was John Green. Rhoda Seelbach's father John Henry Seelbach came to Nacogdoches County from Prussia (modern day Germany) around 1858 with his father Daniel Seelbach.

On my fathers side of the family, my father was James Buren "Bill" McNease, son of Buren McNease of Garrison, Texas in Nacogdoches County. Buren McNease's father was William Henry McNease and his mother was Rena McDonald. William Henry McNease's mother was Judy A Hancock, daughter of Hardy Hancock of Shelby County, Texas. William McNease's father was M C McNease per the 1880 census.

I also included information about my paternal grandmother's family, the Hogans. Grandma Beulah McNease's father was John Ira Hogan. He had thirteen children and the Hogan report contains quite a bit of descendant information. John Ira Hogan moved his family from Mississippi to Texas around 1913.

Please feel free to search through my attached reports. I am always seeking to add to or improve my data. Of special interest would be any info on Gibson Russell. He was born in either South Carolina or Georgia around 1808 and migrated to Texas around 1840 with his father-in-law Jesse Crawford.
