I am currently researching, with my father, the family history of the McNamara and Gallagher families who originated in County Clare, Ireland. The Gallaghers came to Canada via Manchester, England in the late 1800s to Halifax. They then proceeded to Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada. The McNamara Family took the more direct root coming from Ireland, around the same time, and settled in Point Tupper, Nova Scotia. Some family names that are conected to our lineage include: On the McNamara side: Levangie or Levandier(French), Scanlon, and Cloake. On the Gallagher side: Condon and Constantine. |
