Jay McNutt, 65, Payette, who died Friday at home of natural causes, were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel in Payette by the Rev. A.E. Rainwater of the Assembly of God church. Interment was at Riverside cemetery. He was born April 27, 1906, at Custer, S.D. His parents homesteaded in Montana. They moved to Hill City, S.C. when he was eight years old and he grew up and attended schools there. As a young man he traveled with his father through the Northwest shearing sheep. He also broke wild horses for the army cavalry. On June 23, 1932, he married Troba Doty at Ontario. He was superintendent of the Ross Packing Co., orchards at Mesa during 1931-32. Then he was employed at Payette with the same firm for a number of years. In 1941, he began operating a Texaco station in Payette which he operated for 23 years. During the past few years he had worked for the F & F Sports Center in Ontario. He was a charter member and past president of the Payette County Rod and Gun club and a past member of the Odd Fellows and Masonic Lodges. He was a member of the Elks Lodge No. 1690, Ontario. Surviving are his wife of Payette; a son, Stan McNutt of Payette; a daughter, Mrs. Jimalee (Dixie) Mace of Vancouver, Wash.; his mother, Mrs. Jessie McNutt of Tuscon, Ariz.; a halfsister, Mrs. Judy Smith, also of Tuscon; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
