In 1956 he moved from San Angelo, TX to Altadena, CA where he became the proprietor of a Mobil gas station. In Altadena he operated operated two stations at different times until his retirement.
With his move to CA he became interested in deep sea fishing and when he got a chance he would go out from various ports on deep sea fishing trips.
