1. Nicholas¹ Dale was born 1604 in England, and died Bef. May 25, 1648 in York Co., VA. He married Sarah Keye. She was born Unknown, and died Unknown.

Notes for Nicholas Dale:
There are several references to Dale's in the early records of Jamestown.
The one that might be appropriate here is a notice of arrival "Niccolas Dale 20 by Jacob 1624". Virginia Land Office Patents and Grants have Patent No.1 p.57 in the name of Nicholas Dale on May 8, 1638. The property is described as "Charles River, 75A on the river joining the land of Nicholas Crosson". There is also a record of his selling 50 acres of land on August 13, 1639. His will was entered into the records May 25, 1648.
In 1645 Nicholas Dale was the administrator for the estate of Rev. Ralph Watson. He is mentioned in many subequent court records involving the settlement of the estate because of debts owed to the estate and debts owed by the estate. Most of these debts are listed by payment in pounds of tobacco or pork.
The 1662 records for Norfolk Co., VA also list a 40 year old William Dale.

Notes for Sarah Keye:
There is a deed in York Co., VA dated August 24, 1648 from Richard Perrott and Sarah, his wife, to her children Thomas Dale, Joane Dale and Sarah Dale. They are listed as children by her former husband Nicholas Dale. This is from "Colonial Men and Times", Harper, Lillie D.V., Philadelphia, Pa, Innes & Sons 1916.

Notes for Charles Allen:
The following entry was recorded on April 10, 1653 in Lancaster Co., VA: "Received by me Charles Allen and Mary my wife daughter of Nicolas Dale late deceased of Rich Paratt and Sara his wife the relict and Administratrix of my said father Nick Dale" certain cattle "given by my fathers will and afterwards given me by the said Rich Paratt and Sarah my father and mother in law". wit: Fra Holland, Robert Parr. Dated 23 Oct 1649. This is from Lancaster Co., VA Court Orders, 1652 - 1655.
It is significant to note that part of Lancaster Co., VA was formed York Co., VA in 1651.
