Along with a second cousin and a fourth cousin I am researching the following names: Aikin (Aiken/Aikins/Aikens/Aken/Akin/Akens/Akins), Bake, Campbell, Dearing, Holbert, Minor, McPheeters, Quier (Queer?), Stribling and numerous others. These are just the main ones and other than Holbert and McPheeters are all on the maternal side.

My Bake information starts with Christopher (although verbal tradition in my line states the name is Christian) Bake, b. 1713 in either Germany or Switzerland. The family lived in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. John Bake, Christian's son was in the Revolutionary War. One of my goals is to go further back in tracing the Bake family.

Tradition (and some of it proved) the family moved to Pennsylvania, then Butler County, Ohio and from there to Fountain County, Indiana. From Fountain County, the descendants have spread all over the United States.

Christopher's granddaughter, Rebecca Bake married Albert Campbell, son of Obadiah Campbell and Mary Opdyke.
