I am researching the family of Julia and Allan MacSween. In 1852 Julia left Raasay, Scotland, a widow with 5 children. Her 6th daughter married Alexander McKenzie and she travelled to Australia with the McKenzie family on a different ship.Julia travelled on the 'Miltiades', which left Liverpool, England in 1852, and sailed to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, arriving October 1852. The ship's log records the name as 'McSwain'.
I have traced most of Julia's children and descendents and am looking for a possible american connection. It is believed that she had a son Christopher, who may have gone to the states. At this point in time, I know nothing of Allan. Not where he was born or died. I only know from the census, that Julia was a widow in 1841.I am wondering if there may be an Irish connection here.
