Notes for Burwell Blanton McSwain: Service Record: Enlisted in Cleveland County, NC on March 17, 1862 as a private in Company H, 28th NC Infantry, CSA. Wounded on August 9, 1862 at Cedar Mountain, VA, he returned to duty on October 31, 1862. He was wounded again on May 1, 1863 at Chancellorsville, VA and again on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, PA.
